Dear Future

Dear Classmates,

Please listen to me. Don't take me for granted or underestimate my comprehension. On that
note, please don't lie to me. Don't pretend that you take me seriously when you don't. I can hear
what your whispering on my back, and I'm not oblivious to your whispered conversations in front
of me.  Just because I say strange things and have wild ideas doesn't mean I'm not intelligent.
Please treat me with the courtesy I deserve. Treat me with the courtesy I've never gotten.

Dear future employers,

Please don't disregard me. I'm just as capable as anyone else. I've worked very hard to get the
qualifications for your job. Please don't ignore my skill because I can't make eye contact or sit
still. Don't make me prove myself over and over again. Don't act like my accomplishments are
just a fluke. Please treat me with the respect that I have earned. 

Dear future colleagues,

Please take me seriously. I worked just as hard to get here as all of you. I didn't get any special
treatment and I know what I'm talking about. Please don't treat me like a child. Please treat me
as the adult, I've worked so hard to become.

 Dear future friends,

Please let me be normal. Don't try to make decisions for me or be overprotective.
Please understand that if I need extra help, I will ask.  I care about you, and the way you treat
me will have the biggest effect on the way I treat myself. So please don't assume you know what I
need. I understand that you want to help, but I am a human being with my own thoughts,
opinions, feelings, and ideas. I am not a fragile little pet, so don't treat me like one.
Please don't treat me like I'm autistic.
